Guidelines 2020

Article 1 Registration
  • registration can only be made within our registration periods 
  • the number of participants is restricted to 500. Therefore the first 500 registrations will be taken into account, provided the registration fees will have been paid 
  • registration is conducted exclusively by electronic means 
  • the steps of registration are as follows
    • the submission of the complete online form with consent of a parent or guardian, this includes
      • upload of a portrait photo of the participant, which can be published in both print and online
      • upload of a copy of an identification document of the legal guardian and the participant
    • payment of the registration fee
    • receipt of the participants user account data
  • the participant an the legal guardian assures the true identity of the participant and the submitted recordings 
  • If it turns out that the participant is not the person who is playing, he or she will be disqualified. In this case the organizer shall be entitled to claim for damages
Article 2 Programme
  • the programmes must be designed according to the table "programmes"
  • the table contains, depending on different age groups, specificaions for duration and choice of the pieces
Article 3 Duration
  • the maximum playing time in all submitted recordings may not exceed the specified times
  • if the playing time exceeds the time limit, as setout  in the regulations, by more than 10%, the jury reserves the right to disqualify the participant. In this case the registration fee will not be refunded
  • the allocation of playing time regarding the individual rounds in the age groups D-H remains the choice of the participant
Article 4 Playing by memory
  • playing by memory is recommended and appreciated, but not mandatory
Article 5 Code word
  • the recordings must be made within the set time of the round
  • for this purpose, a code word will be published at the beginning of the first round, see start page "get the codeword"
Article 6 Notification
  • to ensure that the audition is performed by the actual participant, an introduction must be made at the beginning of the video
  • the introduction must be clearly spoken into the camera
  • the introduction can be spoken by the actual participant or by another person, in either case the face of the participant must be clearly visible
  • if the introduction is made by another person, this person may not be visible or audible during the rest of the piece
  • the introduction includes the code word, first name and surname of the player, composer and title or movement designation of the piece
  • the introduction should be made in English or German. We will, however, accept any other language as well
Article 7 Video
  • only submitted video recordings with both picture and sound will be accepted
  • the video recordings must present  the participant in sound and image
  • multiple videos per participant and round are possible, provided that the total time limit is not exeeded
  • during the performance the recordings may only show the participant and, if necessary, a page-turner
  • the recordings may not be edited or cut, no picture or sound effects may be added
  • the videos must be generated in the file formats avi, mov or mpeg4 
  • the video size should be between 720p and 1080p. No 4K videos please
  • the face and hands of the competitor should be clearly visible while playing
  • the entire video must be recorded from a fixed camera position
  • no professional camera is necessary to produce the video
  • the piece should be recorded with the highest possible sound quality
  • avoid background noise and distortion
  • each participant will recieve tips and advice on the technical details after his/her sucessful submission
Article 8 recording rights
  • the participant grants the following rights of exclusive, free and unlimited use of the submitted recordings to EUPLAYY /Swen Fischer 
  • the participant grants the rights of exclusive, free and unlimited use of the submitted recordings to EUPLAYY /Swen Fischer 
  • EUPLAYY /Swen Fischer reserves the right to make the videos accessible in full length or in parts, in particular on the website euplayy.com, meaning the right to make the videos available - online or offline - to the public in such a way that anyone has the possibility to get access to them at a time and place of her/his choice. This shall include, as far as necessary for the retrieval usage, the right of reproduction, distribution and archivation
  • EUPLAYY is entitled to use a video cloud service for the storage and publishing of the videos, if technically necessary
  • the rights above will be granted for at least the time period beginning from submission and ending with the final decision of the jury 
  • should a participant win a prize, the above rights will be valid for an additional three years beginning from the final decision of the jury
  • should a participant not win a prize, EUPLAYY commits itself to delete the videos after the final decision of the jury and to ensure that they will no longer be accessable and be removed from the website and the cloud server
  • EUPLAYY ist entitled but not obliged to publish the videos. However, it is the intention to make the videos of each round accessible from the date of submission until the evaluation. in particular, they are planned to be visible in the virtual concert hall on the website euplayy.com  
  • should a participant win a prize, the participant grants the rights of exclusive, free and unlimited use of the submitted recordings to the organization EUPLAYY, represented by Swen Fischer, for a period of three years
  • the videos of participants with less than 60 points will be deleted immediately after the competition
  • by participating in the competition, the entrant automatically waives the right to financial compensation for the recordings provided
Article 9 Jury
  • at least three qualified jurors will evaluate the entries
  • the work of the jury is conducted according to the guidelines established for this purpose
  • the jury members are internationally renowned pianists and piano teachers
  • all jury decisions are final and irreversible and not not countervailable
Article 10 Evaluations
  • the results will be announced one week after the end of each competition round
  • each participant will be informed about his or her result per email and will receive a certificate
  • the contributions of those participants who have received a prize will be published on the website
  • the teachers of the participants will receive a certificate on request
Article 11 Prizes
  • The prizes will be awarded according to the number of points achieved
  • prizes awarded for the best results are money prizes, sound recordings, master classes and concerts 
Article 12 Audience Prize
  • in each category, an audience prize will be presented
  • in order to watch the contribution during the ongoing competition and to participate in the voting for the audience prizes, a registration with name and e-mail is required
  • each registration corresponds to one vote
  • our virtual concert hall has a limited capacity of at first 50 visitors at the same time
